How we evaluate and recommend funding options
Last reviewed: August 2026
Our mission
Fundember's editorial mission is to help business owners make better-informed capital decisions. We believe most business owners are poorly served by funding websites that prioritize lead generation over genuine guidance. Our goal is to be the decision layer before funding — not the monetization layer after it.
How we evaluate funding types
Fundember uses a deterministic eligibility and scoring engine to evaluate a user's business profile against each major funding category. The same inputs always produce the same outputs. The engine is not AI-generated and does not change based on affiliate compensation.
Recommendation priority order:
- Eligibility (does this profile plausibly meet published requirements?)
- Funding purpose alignment
- Amount compatibility
- Business age and revenue compatibility
- Credit compatibility
- Timeline / urgency compatibility
- User priority alignment
- Partner compensation (used only as a tie-breaker after all of the above)
Affiliate compensation
Fundember may receive compensation from certain funding providers when users apply for or obtain financing through our platform. This affiliate relationship is disclosed:
- Adjacent to every provider recommendation
- On the Partner Disclosure page
- In this editorial policy
- In the global site footer
A provider with an affiliate relationship will never appear in results if its published eligibility criteria do not match the user's profile. We will not rank a poor fit above a good fit because the commission is higher.
Provider data accuracy
Provider eligibility criteria are sourced from publicly available information, including provider websites and official documentation. Every eligibility data point includes:
- Source URL
- Source name
- Date verified
- Verification status
- Confidence level
Fundember does not publish provider eligibility criteria without a verified source. If criteria become stale, they are flagged and reviewed before being used in recommendations.
SBA content
Fundember is an independent funding discovery platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or approved by the U.S. Small Business Administration. SBA content on this site is for educational purposes only. Official SBA information is available at sba.gov.
